One of the recent such voip provider launched is FreeCallButton which claims to offer free international calls including free calls to India landlines and mobiles. But wait is it worth trying ?
Many such voip providers are launched and people waste a lot of their time trying them, and then end up not even making single free call. This is where we can help.
FreeCallButton claims that calls can be made TO and FROM most countries in the world. And you wont even have to register, not even have to pay anything. No credit card info, no personal information and no catch. They say that you can make 6 minutes of free calls per hour. That means, you can make 24 free calls in one day each of 6 min.
FreeCallButton also promises to offer calls via Phone to Phone, PC to Phone. But the main problem is it just does not work.
FreeCallButton website is full of ads, with all advertisement. Firstly this aint good for a voip provider. Then somehow even if you manage to know the calling procedure, PIN etc and try placing your call - Call Never gets through !!
I have tried many a times making phone calls but all in vain. Their local access numbers most of the times does not work. It does not sometimes accepts PIN, sometimes call dont get through.
Well, in my opinion it is many times better to go for a cheap provider like IndiaLD or Rebtel to make calls then wasting your time at this FreeCallButton Voip provider.

you're all wrong
This service is not new AT ALL (it exists 3-4 years already). If you had not stolen posts from other bloggers, rather than searching yourself, you could have known that.
Although the service works (with temporary problems from time to time) many destinations in India are blocked due to abuse. ( They are very strict about the limit )
Pls refer to the blocked-destinations link at their site
Hold the press! I had been discouraged that it was not working. However, I had been in touch with Jim Waters at customer service. One thing I can tell - their customer service is really good, for a free service! He patiently answered all my questions - I had been using 011 as a prefix. That is wrong. You have to use 00, then country code, then number. I just made my first free call using Freecallbutton. One of the clearest calls I have made, compared to any free service! So, I believe you need to look into this further. Here are the steps:
1. Go here:
http://www.freecallbutton.com/free_global_calling_codes.htm
and choose an access number.
2. Call the access number
3. Dial the corresponding extension
4. Enter the pin number found at: http://www.freecallpin.com/. There is a different one daily.
5. Dial your number in the 00-country code..format.
I am impressed!
Hi Anony,
Well it seems that you are in high favor of FreeCallButton or may be one of officials. But the fact remains, that many people tried the service and failed to make free calls. I myself tried many a times to make calls to India mobile but was not able to place a single call.
It may be possible that the service was temporarily down, or I may have been following the wrong steps (calling codes). When I posted about the service, I checked about it on internet and found bad reviews with many poeple facing similar issues. The aim of posting here it was that free pc to phone calls blog readers may or may not try and give their reviews if it works for them.
Anyways, Harry mentioned that he has been able to make calls and mentioned steps to make free calls. I will try again and see if it works.
It will be good for all, if it works because we will then have one more free calls to India voip provider. I will then write a review again with the calling procedure mentioned properly.
PS: If you check the website, the calling procedure aint obvious, and you need to take customer support help to know the exact way.
Regards,
Madhur
Madhur,
I don't believe Anon has anything to do with Freecallbutton as Jim seems to be a very responsive, decent, helpful guy. Frankly, when I first wrote Freecallbutton, I never expected a reply, as in the case of some other providers. I was pleasantly surprised!
In summary, I believe their service works and seems to be good, but the problem is a lack of clear, explicit instructions at the website. Hopefully, my instructions should help clear their name.
I am embarrassed!
Actually, it says clearly what you need to do in the yellow panel at:
http://www.freecallbutton.com/free_global_calling_codes.htm
If all else fails, read the instructions. :)
Well I tried it again and it did not worked for me. What can I say now.
The steps mentioned on their website (yellow block).
I will contact them and try again !
Guys, you may also try and see if it works for you.
Madhur
Hi Madhur,
I'm Anon from the first comment.
I'm not a Freecalbutton official but very familiar with VOIP, and VOIP-blogoshphere
I like your blog but don't like what you did.
You have stolen this idea from the competitor Freevcalls blog, posted on 06/04.10:
http://freevcalls.blogspot.com/2010/04/freecallbuttoncom-hourly-free.html
That's why you were MISLED to believe Freecallbutton is a new service (even though in fact Freevcals hasn't explicitly said that)
Bloggers need to search for info themselves and not copy from each other×¥
Please give us only fresh contents:)
Anony:
Do you really thing this VoIP world is big? There are only a few offers a month that are worth writing about and which WILL be share by all bloggers.
I am a blogger to at http://cheapestvoipcalls.net. Do you think we can search forever and find the best services and expect that someone else wont want to share it? The point is to share, if you like FreeVCalls then go there no need to bash this blog man.
Its not a big deal if that service was around for years, they only got good now. So its not Madhurs fault. Let him do what he does, im pretty sure you save ALOT of money just by reading this blog once a week.
