Google Voice for everyone : No invite required

Well, Google voice came last year with a bang. Already, there are 1 million people with Google Voice accounts. Initially it started offering its voip service only with invitation. Google acquired the core Google Voice technology in mid-2007 when it bought a company called GrandCentral. At the time, Google closed new sign-ups for the GrandCentral service. Some time back it started offering its voip service to students without invitation.

Now google voice is offering its voip service to everyone without any invitation. Google voice is a web-based platform for managing your communications. It introduced one number to ring all your phones, voicemail that works like email, free calls and text messages to the U.S. and Canada, low-priced international calls and more ! And now google voice goes public, no invitation.

The thing here to notice is Google Voice is still limited to everyone in the U.S. for now and not for everyone internationally. So, all the people in US could use Google voice to make free calls to the U.S. and Canada, to send free text messages.

One interesting fact that some of VoIP readers are not aware of is that you can search for a number while registering. For example you can search for "Patriot" and if available Google voice will give you a 10-digit number which has 7 consecutive numbers that can be represented as "Patriot". If I confused you think of representation of numbers such as 1-800-COMCAST which is in fact the number 1-800-266-2278. Cool eh?
