Free Calls from Gmail extended in 2011

Google launched its voip service Google Voice, soon it started offering free calls from your gmail account. That is Google allowed its users to make calls to USA & Canada phones directly from their gmail account. Actually this offer was made only for rest of 2010 (from Aug 2010).

In the spirit of holiday giving and to help people keep in touch in the new year, Google is extending free calling for all of 2011. You can directly make calls to USA & Canada mobile phones from your Gmail account, just check the “Call phone” at the top of your Gmail chat list and dial a number or enter a contact’s name.

Please note that Calling in Gmail is currently only available to U.S. based Gmail users.
If you are from USA and still have not configured calling from Gmail, then try out Gmail Call feature.

Please refer to blogpost on Goolge Voice blog.

Actually I thought GoogleVoice was free forever, in the first place! I am surprised to know it was only for a limited time! I hope they make it free permanently as a thank you to Gmail users...they can afford it!

google voice once allowed texting free to the philippines and they suddenly ripped it out from beneath us without knotice, whatso ever. it was like getting your first born child taken away. i love google but their practices require more through input, and knotices b4 hand. hopefully they will put it back.

Well I thought the same thing too about it being free for Google accounts in the USA and Canada. I know everyone is trying to make money but the Americans are the ones loosing, jobs, call centers are in the Philippines, so what's left for the Americans. At least Us based inbound and out-band calls should be for free. Thanks Google for opening your hearts to the US subscribers. It's a blessing, 'cause not everyone is able to have cell phone if they live out in the boonies. Cell phones don't word 24/7 unless you charge it. Well that goes for cordless phones, too LOL.Thanks again and God Bless
