What is Eclipse in Android ?
It is basically an open source IDE (integrated development environment) for Java projects. Its the place where you create and craft the software applications, being supported through various stages of its lifecycle. Google officially supports Eclipse IDE, and has created the Android Development Tools plugin for Eclipse and integrated its AVD Manager virtual device management into the tool as well. In short, you not just create any other software (Java App) but you create Android Oriented apps and these can be easily be tested on android emulators (virtual device). You can create Android APK using this!

What is ADT in Android ?
ADT (Android Developer Tools) is a plugin for Eclipse that provides a suite of tools that are integrated with the Eclipse IDE. It offers you access to many features that help you develop Android applications quickly. ADT provides GUI access to many of the command line SDK tools as well as a UI design tool for rapid prototyping, designing, and building of your application's user interface.
Because ADT is a plugin for Eclipse, you get the functionality of a well-established IDE, along with Android-specific features that are bundled with ADT.
